Beaches
In
the island of Chios you can locate some of the nicest sandy and pebbly
beaches, where you can enjoy peaceful swimming, relaxation or even
water sports and diving.
Vocaria
is a very well known beach,
very suitable for diving. At the seafood “parades” of Agios Giannis of
Gridion, you will find tasty morsels to delight your palate.
Agia Fotini,
if you don’t enjoy the sense of fine sand sticking to
your body, then you will enjoy this beach with its black and white
pebbles.
Megas Limionas
is a picturesque beach
suitable for swimming and romantic walks.
Karfa
is one of the most
beautiful sandy golden beaches in Chios, with clear shallow waters.
Mavra Volia or Mavra
Livadia is a
unique beach covered in black pebbles, which came from a volcanic
explosion of Psarona.
Kato Fana, Potami, Lithi &
Agia Dinami are
the beaches for you, if you don’t enjoy the crowds and you are looking
for quite swimming and relaxation.
Daskalopetra
and Nagos beaches
are also suitable for quite swimming and relaxation.
Elinda,
(also providing a small port) is one of the better-known beaches in
Chios.
For water sports you must
visit the Bay Lo, with the cleanest and better-organised
beach.
The beach at Passalimani,
reminds you of the homonymous district at Piraeus, but only in name.
The reality in this Chian beach is totally different, but very
pleasing.
Near Kardamyla, the beach
of Vlichada is situated in a valley full of olive and pine trees. As
you go northwards, you come across the beach at Gialiskari with the
picturesque creek. The valley of Nagos with its dense vegetation, its
tall plane trees and fantastic beach is situated 5 km to the north of
Kardamyla. Not very far is situated the beach of Giosonas surrounded
by wild and impressive mountains with sides full of pine trees and
orchards. Finally the small beach at Ambelos with big colourful
pebbles is accessible from the main road via a path.
