Beaches

In the island of Chios you can locate some of the nicest sandy and pebbly beaches, where you can enjoy peaceful swimming, relaxation or even water sports and diving.

Vocaria is a very well known beach, very suitable for diving. At the seafood “parades” of Agios Giannis of Gridion, you will find tasty morsels to delight your palate.

Agia Fotini, if you don’t enjoy the sense of fine sand sticking to your body, then you will enjoy this beach with its black and white pebbles.

Megas Limionas is a picturesque beach suitable for swimming and romantic walks.

Karfa is one of the most beautiful sandy golden beaches in Chios, with clear shallow waters.

Mavra Volia or Mavra Livadia is a unique beach covered in black pebbles, which came from a volcanic explosion of Psarona.

Kato Fana, Potami, Lithi & Agia Dinami are the beaches for you, if you don’t enjoy the crowds and you are looking for quite swimming and relaxation.

Daskalopetra and Nagos beaches are also suitable for quite swimming and relaxation.

Elinda, (also providing a small port) is one of the better-known beaches in Chios.

For water sports you must visit the Bay Lo, with the cleanest and better-organised beach.

The beach at Passalimani, reminds you of the homonymous district at Piraeus, but only in name. The reality in this Chian beach is totally different, but very pleasing.

Near Kardamyla, the beach of Vlichada is situated in a valley full of olive and pine trees. As you go northwards, you come across the beach at Gialiskari with the picturesque creek. The valley of Nagos with its dense vegetation, its tall plane trees and fantastic beach is situated 5 km to the north of Kardamyla. Not very far is situated the beach of Giosonas surrounded by wild and impressive mountains with sides full of pine trees and orchards. Finally the small beach at Ambelos with big colourful pebbles is accessible from the main road via a path.

In the island of Oinousses you have a choice of several beaches:
Epagas, Kastro, Bilalis or Hagialis
