There are many beaches at Lesvos, of all shapes, sizes and textures. Some are organised like resort beaches, others are more informal. Some are busy with activity and water sports; others are less busy even in the summer.

We are recording here the most well known. But you can just as easily find, many other deserted coves and beaches on the shores of Lesvos bearing in mind the size of the island. So it’s up to you whether you want to be Robinson Crusoe or not…the choice is yours..

Agios Ermogenis: Small shingle bay, surrounded by pine forest, quiet location, clear sea, homonymous chapel and small taverna by the beach.

Charamida: Small shingle bay, very accessible quiet location, clear sea suitable and licensed for scuba diving. Tavernas, restaurants and accommodation nearby.


Vigla: Long, narrow pebbly stretch, near the airport, usually busy in the summer.


Tsamakia (EOT): The only organised pay beach (shingle) very near to Mytilene, clear waters, showers and changing rooms, very busy most of the time.


Kanoni: Small shingle bay, quiet accessible location, clear sea, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Agios Georgios: Small shingle bay, quiet accessible location, clear sea

Skala Mystegnon: Small shingle bay, narrow beach, quiet accessible location, clear sea, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Skala Neon Kydonion: Small single bay quiet accessible location, clear sea, rooms to rent.

Tsonia: Wide red sandy beach, crystal clear sea, real stone changing rooms and sea wall, tavernas by the beach, rooms to rent.

 

Evriaki: Small single bay, accessible location, clear sea, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Avlonas: Small single bay, quiet accessible location, clear sea, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Tarti: Fine shingle beach, crystal clear sea, suitable and licensed for scuba diving, very quiet accessible location, and taverna by the beach.

 

Agios Isidoros: White sandy beach, sitting upon a rocky shelf that makes entertaining snorkelling, sometimes prone to waves, busy during the summer season, crystal clear sea, rooms to rent

Melinda: Large pebbles beach, in small bay, very quiet location, crystal clear waters tavernas by the beach, rooms to rent.

Vatera: Very long (8 km), Blue Flag Award, repeatedly voted as one of the best beaches of Greece, tiny colourful shingle beach with sand dunes to the west. Never congested due to its size, free showers and changing rooms, crystal clear waters, sun beds and umbrellas (most free of charge), water sports, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Nyfida: Pebbled beach, quiet accessible location, free showers and changing rooms, clear sea, tavernas by the beach, rooms to rent.

Skala Polychnitou: Fine shingle beach, very quiet accessible location, free showers and changing rooms, clear sea, tavernas and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Skamnoudi: Narrow pebbled beach, very quiet accessible location, clear water, tavernas by the beach, rooms to rent.

Alykoudi: Pebbled beach in a bay, very quiet accessible location, clear water, taverna not far from the beach, rooms to rent.

Skala Vassilikon: Narrow pebbled beach, very quiet accessible location, clear water, tavernas by the beach, rooms to rent.

Achladeri : Pebbled beach, very quiet accessible location, clear water, taverna by the beach.

Skala Kallonis: Sandy beach, organised like a resort with umbrellas and sun beds, accessible location, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Skala Sikaminias: tucked away and tranquil, fine single beach, crystal clear water, tavernas by the beach, rooms to rent.

Eftalou: Small pebbled bay, free showers and changing rooms, crystal clear water, thermal springs by the beach, rooms to rent.

Molyvos: Narrow pebbled beach, free showers and changing rooms, suitable and licensed for scuba diving, clear sea, water sports, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Petra: Long fine shingle beach, organised like a resort beach with rental sun beds and umbrellas, clear sea, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach (in fact the whole village), rooms to rent.

Avlaki: Small shingle beach, walking distance from Petra, taverna by the beach, rooms to rent.


Anaxos: Long fine shingle beach, organised like a resort beach with rental sun beds and umbrellas, clear sea, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach (in fact the whole resort), rooms to rent.

Ambella: Long fine shingle beach, clear sea

Tsichrada: Long clean, fine shingle beach, clear sea, couple of cafes and rooms to rent.

Gavathas: Long fine shingle beach, a bay area with clear sea.

Campo Antissa: Long usually empty rocky beach that gives way to soft sand a few meters into the water. Very secluded especially to the west. crystal clear water

Lapsarna: Sandy bay crystal clear water

Sigri: Long sandy shallow sheltered bay, wide beach, crystal clear sea, showers, water sports, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach, rooms to rent.

Skala Eressos: Cosy sandy beach, accessible location, crystal clear sea, suitable and licensed for scuba diving, tavernas, bars and shops by the beach rooms to rent.

Tavari: Sandy shallow beach, fishing harbour, crystal clear sea, very quiet and almost empty until mid July, a few cafes by the beach.

Apothika: Little harbour with a nice small beach for swimming, coffee shops by the beach.
