DEPARTURES: From July 2004  EVERY SATURDAY

First Day:

The meeting point for the group is the Customs at Mytilini. You should report to your group leader by 07.45 hrs. Boarding the ferry follows after passport check and loading of luggage. On arrival to Ayvalik (after 1 hr), you are met by our local guide & coach and start our journey to Ismir, travelling through Kordelio. The location of Ismir, at the edge of the Aegean will impress you. On arrival at Ismir, we check in at our hotel. For the shopacholicks there is free time to visit the shops at Ismir. A coach tour of the historic parts of Ismir, one of the most important towns of the old Asia Minor Coast will follow. Points of interest of the tour are the Evangelical College and the panoramic Castle of Alexander the Great (Kadife Kale), a vantage point from where the whole town of Ismir is visible. The evening is free for your personal exploration but arrangements can be made with the guide for a fun night at one of the Ismir entertainment night spots (belly-dancing etc).

Second Day:

After breakfast we start our tour with first port of call Sheltzuk and a visit to the House of Madonna on top of the mountain. Ancient Ephesus follows, one of biggest and most preserved towns of antiquity in the Mediterranean. Here you can visit temples, battlements and other important monuments from the Hellenic and Roman periods. After that we head for Cousadasi, a coastal town at the centre of the ancient Ionia. You have free time for shopping. We return to Ismir in the afternoon where we will spend the night. The evening is free for you to use as you wish.

Third Day:

After breakfast the coach will take us to Pergamon. Once there we will tour the town and visit the Temple of Asclepius, the Red Basilica of the Emperor Justinianos and the traditional Greek houses of Pergamon. These antiquities of the Hellenistic period cannot be missed. After lunch we return to Ayvalik for your last shopping opportunity until the departure of the ferry for Mytilini.
